Have you seen the coverage in the Shawnee and Basehor papers on the Stars take-over of Ice Sports? Have you seen the emails from both organizations? Are you aware of the dogfight beginning between The Stars and The Outlaws organizations? Basically The Stars are kicking The Outlaws to the curb and have already e-mailed the entire list of Outlaws parents in order to woo them away for Spring hockey. March 1 will bring some nasty times for local youth hockey.
However, there is a ray of hope, as The Outlaws are in the process of securing a new rink in the form of either a warehouse, a new building in KCK, or possibly a third option.
The Stars have leased and not purchased, which leads one to believe that they will eventually build out South, as that is where their families are based. If this happens, Ice Sports is screwed. The Outlaws will have found a new home by then.
Don’t get me started on how screwed up the Men’s leagues are now. But if the 11pm ice times are any indication, we will not see adult hockey like what was recently enjoyed by nearly 40 teams, in years.
